IPL 2011 Dates – IPL 4 to begin six days after ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

IPL 2011 Schedule – IPL 4 to begin on April 8 and conclude on May 22. Defending IPL champions the Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the IPL 4 on April 08, 2011.

The governing body also released the schedule of the IPL 2011 with changes in the play off system for the fourth edition of the game.

IPL 4 will see 10 teams and the governing body released provisional schedule of the games and the opening match will be at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai which will see the champions go to defend with the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8, 2011. It is also their right to host the first match of the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League.

According to the tentative schedule, the 10 teams which include the two additions of franchises the Kochi and the Sahara Pune Warriors will play in all 74 matches and at 13 venues. The 74 matches are spread across 51 days and to reach the finals the final four teams of the IPL 4 will have to play in a new play-off system which will be coming into effect from the 2011 season. SWOT Analysis of team Australia and team Canada

The four times winner with a hat-trick in its kitty, Australia, is definitely the eye-candy for all the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 watchers. In the betting community, where the matches make the biggest impact, Australia is the second favorite team, with 11/2, after India, who enjoys 11/4. The team currently ranks 4th in Tests and 1st in ODIs.

The World Number 1 ODI Squad

Pace bomber Bret Lee - Fast bowler Brett Lee made a rousing return from a 15-month injury lay-off, bowling back at 150km/h. The 34 year old pace bomber, Lee, in 10 matches has 22 wickets at the world-class average of 17.91. He claims a wicket every 22.68 balls, or once every fourth over, a strike-rate unmatched by any quick, tweaker or medium-paced trundler in the showpiece 50-over extravaganza.

Overall, the Aussies won 16 of their 25 matches played in 2010 and have managed to hold onto their number one ranking ahead of the World Cup.

ICC Cricket World Cup: Day 26: Nice Tune-Up For Aussies

Trivandrum: After a commanding performance against Kenya in their previous outing, Australia have another light-weight encounter on their hands, against Canada in Bangalore. With the entire side fit and raring to go, the Aussies will look to pick up another easy 2 points and jump to the top of Group A.

The form of Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey was the biggest positive to come out of the Kenya game for the Kangaroos, who seem to be one of the most lethal sides in the tournament. They have an air about them of a team that knows exactly what they are doing, and it isn’t something to be surprised about, considering they are three-time defending champions.

Cameron White has been the sole batsman whose insipid form sticks out like a sore thumb. Though he is considered to be a top quality player by many in the Australian team management, it might not be all too bad an idea to give David Hussey a chance in place of the Victorian.

Having said that, White might very well find some much required form with a good hit in the middle against Canada, but another failure in this game might very well cut short his World Cup quite early on.

Spinner Jason Krejza has been bowling well and keeping things economical, but will have to get among the wickets to help his side’s cause during the middle-overs. The pace trio of Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson have so far done well, but they need the support of lead spinner Krejza.

Apart from these small issues, Australia are definitely one of the better balanced sides in the tournament, and will be looking to progress right through to the business end of the mega-event. They will use this game against Canada to iron-out any small worries and will also put into use any experiments they want to try ahead of the final Group game against Pakistan, and of course the quarter-finals.
Prediction: Easy Australian win.

Now an IPL like Wrestling League from November 2011

NEW DELHI: Indian Wrestling League, an event on the lines of hugely successful IPL, will be launched later this year, the Wrestling Federation of India announced on Monday.

The WFI in collaboration with Kolkata based Leisure Sports will organise the League during November and December this year.

"Each team shall be named after the franchisee owner and will be permitted to have two foreign wrestlers in each style," G S Mander, President of the Wrestling Federation of India, said.

The League will be held in seven weight categories for both men and women. During the first year, there will be six city based teams competing in the league.

The bouts in the five-week long competition will be held at different venues on last three days of the week.

The wrestlers will obtain classification points after every bout and at the conclusion of the league, prize money will be awarded to the winning team and also to the Champion wrestlers.
