Players Skipping the NFL Pro Bowl 2011

The 2011 Pro Bowl will be held on Jan. 30 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. As was the case in 2010, the Pro Bowl will take place a week before the Super Bowl.

Players have often skipped the Pro Bowl for various reasons -- injuries suffered during the season, indifference toward the game itself, etc. Now that the game is played a week before the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl players from the Super Bowl teams will not participate, either.

In other words, the Pro Bowl teams that were named in late December will look a lot different from the teams that take the field in Hawaii.

Super Bowl XLV Season NFL Playoff Schedule 2011

Regular season for the NFL officially ends today, January 2, 2011 giving way to the Wild Card Weekend happening on January 8 and 9, 2011.  Two wild card games are to be held on NBC on January 8 late afternoon and at night.

CBS and FOX will be airing the wild card games on January 9.  Confirm this with your local cable / TV subscription.

NFL’s official website often updates NFL Playoff Schedule 2011.  Super Bowl XLV happens on February 6 in North Texas.

Jan. 2 — Regular season ends.
Jan. 8-9 — Wild Card Weekend.

Super Bowl 2011 Brings HipHop back to Half Time

The Black Eyed Peas was chosen to bring half time entertainment to the world’s most awaited annual event – Super Bowl 2011.  The Super Bowl is watched by millions of people all over the globe with some people even watching just the Super Bowl commercials and ads.

Hip-hop is back on Superbowl this year and it has been a while since they picked younger artists since the 2004 wardrobe malfunction of Janet Jackson.  Organizers thought that it was just inappropriate to have a show like that and after 2004, they chose a more classic set of entertainers.

The Black Eyed Peas sold millions of albums worldwide with their hit comeback album that made the world dance.  Even with the hip-hop / pop genre, Black Eyed Peas still is a conservative choice but definitely a hot group to perform half time.

2011 NFL Playoff Odds: Falcons are favorites to represent NFC in Super Bowl

Dome field advantage is working out well for the Atlanta Falcons thus far.  The Falcons are the early favorite to take home the NFC crown.

Oddsmakers have installed the Falcons as 7-4 favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Tex., according to scoresandodds.com.

That makes sense because as long as the Falcons keep winning the path to the Super Bowl runs through Peachtree Street.  Atlanta has had some serious success at home with Matt Ryan at QB.  The third-year standout from Boston College is 20-2 at the Dome.

The odds of the No. 2 seed Chicago Bears of winning the NFC are slightly behind the Falcons at 2-1, followed by the No. 3 seed Philadelphia Eagles (3-1), No. 5 seed Philadelphia Eagles (7-2) and No. 6 seed Green Bay Packers (4-1).

The No. 4 seed Seattle Seahawks, who won the NFC West despite a 7-9 record, are 75-1 long shots to make it to Dallas.

Over in the other conference, the No. 1 seed New England Patriots are heavy favorites to represent the AFC. They are 5-8 favorites. Every $1 you wager will return a whopping $1.635 cents.

The odds on the No. 2 seed Pittsburgh Steelers making it to Super Bowl XLV are 5-2, followed by the No. 5 seed Baltimore Ravens (5-1), the No. 6 seed New York Jets (8-1)  and the No. 3 seed Indianapolis Colts (8-1).

The Kansas City Chiefs are 10-1 to win the AFC title.

When it comes down to the Super Bowl, New England is an early 6-5 favorite (a $1 bet wins $2.20).  Atlanta and Pittsburgh are both 4-1.  Indianapolis is 9-1, while the Bears, Saints, Ravens and Packers are 10-1.

The Jets and the Eagles have a 14-1 shot to win the big game. The Chiefs and Seahawks are long shots.  Kansas City faces 30-1 odds, while Seattle faces 75-1 odds to win the Super Bowl, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium
